Law Firm Tax Accountant/Trusts & Estates Administrator

Salary:
$75,000 - $110,000 (dependent on experience) - Hybrid


Tax Accountant (3 years of experience)
We are a mid-sized law firm in Orange County that focuses on Business Planning, Estate Planning, Complex Income Tax Planning, Charitable Sector and Mergers & Acquisitions. We are seeking a Tax Accountant/Trusts & Estate Administration Analyst to work at our firm. The right candidate is someone with at least 3 years of experience in public accounting, looking for a new environment. This person will primarily report to two senior paralegals, a senior associate attorney, and two partners who represent closely held businesses and trusts and estates, providing transactional business, real estate, estate administration, and estate/tax planning services.


Responsibilities and duties include:
  • Preparation of detailed asset and cash flow spreadsheets, financials and diagrams supporting complex tax transactions as directed by Firm Partners
  • Preparation of and/or review of trust accountings
  • Preparation of inventories of assets for clients’ estates (both during clients’ lives and upon death)
  • Bookkeeping for clients with large estates, including tracking entity distributions and promissory note payments, ensuring proper payments are made, preparing amortization schedules, etc.
  • Preparation of Estate Tax Returns (Form 706) and Gift Tax Returns (Form 709) (no prior experience necessary)
  • Preparation of special projects as directed by attorneys
  • Maintenance of meticulous electronic and hard copy files
  • Management of client relationships
  • Client communication


Requirements:
  • A minimum of three years’ public accounting experience required
  • Qualified applicants should have organizational and computer skills, including the ability to multitask and manage several projects at one time.
  • Applicants must have strong Excel skills. Experience in Word and PowerPoint necessary.
  • Applicants must be detail-oriented, team players, highly dependable, and have excellent grammar, spelling, oral, administrative, and interpersonal skills.
