Bilingual Litigation Paralegal for Employment Law Firm

A well-respected Labor and Employment firm in Sherman Oaks, CA is seeking a litigation paralegal to help support their team of attorneys. Our team of skilled, experienced lawyers and legal staff can help when serious employment abuses and unexpected personal injury interrupt your life. Our firm leads a team approach to protecting employee rights in state and federal courts in the practice areas of whistleblower claims; wrongful termination; harassment; discrimination; and retaliation on the protected basis of age, gender, disability, marital status, national origin and race, pregnancy, religion, sex, sexual orientation, transgender status, gender expression and identity, and military or veteran status. Clients who have been seriously injured in accidents caused by negligence receive the benefit of our aggressive advocacy, in-depth investigation, personal service and reputation for results.
General Accountabilities:
Drafts basic drafts of motions and/or mediation briefs, including the creation of shells.
Propounds and responds to discovery.
Meet and confer letters.
Creation of PAGA Letters and Complaints and filing them online.
Works with Third Party Administrators for Class Notices, Declarations, and Distribution Timelines.
Organizes and maintains law libraries, documents, and case files.
Supervises questionnaire campaigns for class and PAGA cases.
Drafts first drafts of settlement agreements and MOUs.
Maintains attorneys’ calendars with hearing dates, filing deadlines, depositions, and other dates of importance.
Submits state and US Federal Court Case Management/Electronic Case File (CM/ECF)/PACER system, including submission of electronic filings.
Drafts and reviews legal correspondence including thoroughly proofreading for errors in grammar, spelling, punctuation, and formatting.
Assists with preparation/revision of correspondence, pleadings, discovery submissions, arbitration/mediation documents in state and federal matters.
Handles a wide variety of complex and confidential, time-sensitive material.
Experience: 3-5 years of litigation experience, preferably in employment and/or class action law.
Superior legal research and writing skills.
Knowledge of service deadlines for various litigation tasks, including familiarity with the California Code of Civil Procedure.
Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures of state and federal courts and agencies within labor and employment law practices.
