Staff Accountant

Job Summary:
The primary responsibility of the Staff Accountant is financial reporting, month end closing process and procedures with emphasis on account analysis, budgets, audits, account reconciliation and working as a team with property management and other departments.
Under the general direction of Senior Accountant, a staff accountant is expected to be able to work independently for accurate and timely financial records.
Duties and Responsibilities
·Responsible for all aspects of financial statement package, including but not limited to journal entries, general ledger analysis, account reconciliation and review, distribution of reports and month end closing in a timely manner.
·Demonstrate full understanding of financial cycle in order to process multiple property financial statements on monthly basis.
·Responsible for account payable and account receivable review as part of month end closing.
·Audit and review tenant billing on monthly basis.
·Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and address any outstanding items with appropriate party.
·Interact with District Managers and Onsite Managers in obtaining information needed to prepare accurate financial statements and analysis of financial statement variances.
·Read and understand property management agreement, and any loan documents related to the assigned properties.
·Reconcile escrow transactions and loan balance, including to ensure timely payment of loan, property tax and property insurance.
·Prepare financial and compliance reporting for lenders and partners.
·Responsible for preparation of annual budget, year end audit request and tax return.
·Set-up new property and prepare complex journal entries for acquisition and refinance.
·Process disposition entries for property in accordance with the purchase and sale agreement.
·Perform other duties, responsibilities and special projects as assigned by management for business needs.
·Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent field.
·Minimum two years of full cycle accounting month end close experience, preferably in property management or real estate fields.
·Master of financial analysis and problem-solving ability.
·Strong Microsoft Excel skills, familiar with conditional formatting to automatically formal cells, including vlookup, pivot tables and index match.
·Must be able to consistently achieve high level work standards, attention to detail, accuracy and reliable.
·Possess a positive attitude and follow through to completion on all tasks.
·Demonstrate initiative with the ability to work independently as well as a team.
·Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.
·Be accountable in all aspects of job duties.
·ERP experience is recommended.
