Financial Accountant

The Accountant will be responsible for various general accounting operations including general ledger reconciliations, month-end closing entries, preparation of state and local tax filings, benefits and payroll reconciliations, year-end audit preparation, and the support of financial reporting activities.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepares monthly G/L account reconciliations in compliance with GAAP
  • Analyzes account activity, understands company trends, and detects issues and errors
  • Prepares sales and use, property, business license, and other state and local tax returns. Performs tax research as needed
  • Processes, reconciles, and records employee benefits related transactions
  • Record payroll activity
  • Compiles and analyzes financial information, special projects as assigned.
  • Identify and suggest ways to improve department efficiency and accuracy
  • Assists with financial and tax audits 
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Bachelor degree or equivalent in Accounting/Finance
  • Minimum 3 years of accounting experience
  • CPA certification is highly desirable 
  • Institutional investment research and broker-dealer industry experience a plus
  • Excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
  • Hands-on experience with accounting software packages
  • Strong MS Excel skills including VLOOKUP’s and pivot tables
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
