Paralegal

Job Summary
This position is responsible for drafting pleadings, researching and analyzing law sources, and assisting with corporate matters such as policies and procedures and customer complaints.
Responsibilities
 Draft pleadings, e-file pleadings with the court, prepare and collect discovery, prepare discovery
responses, calendar legal matters, edit and format complaints, answers, briefs, motions and
other legal filings, file and update files
 Research and analyze law sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles,
treaties, constitutions, and legal codes
 Assist in corporate matters such as reviewing, preparing and drafting correspondence, memos,
contracts and legal documents according to Company’s requirements
 Generate reports for internal meetings, audits, and Board consideration
 Liaise between Legal and Compliance and assist with corporate governance
 Assist with Policies and Procedures (formation, updates, annual review)
 Assist with managing customer complaints, investigation and resolution
 Must have ability to identify and assess risks and communicate effectively with external and
internal team members
 Apply analytical and organizational skills, coordinate processes and provide follow-up on project
 Additional duties/projects as assigned
Knowledge and Skills Required
 Should be hands-on and detail-oriented, work well under pressure and be comfortable wearing
many different hats
 Strong critical-thinking skills and ability to act with discretion when handling confidential
matters
 Strong sense of accountability, ability to prioritize, time-management skills and resolve issues
proactively
 Common sense, good judgment and desire to work hard in a fast-paced environment.
 Excellent teamwork skills and a strong client service orientation

 A paralegal certificate from an ABA accredited program
 One or more years of experience in litigation and / or transaction matters
 Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and
online research tools using Lexis-Nexis or Westlaw
 Experience in mortgage or consumer finance (preferred but not required)

 Perform tasks using a computer and peripherals (keyboard, mouse, monitor)

 Lift up to 25 pounds
