The ideal candidate will be proficient in using various legal and medical software to effectively obtain necessary documents as well as maintain an effective workflow. This is an in-office position which will work in a team environment and with other Legal Assistants.
The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of experience handling medical records for a litigation department with duties such as:
- Reviewing medical and billing record affidavits for completion and ascertaining deficiencies.
- Compiling lists of medical and billing records, as well as lists of providers and missing records.
- Pursuing collection of all medical and billing records that have been submitted for each client.
- Notating file management system with comments of pending items and action items for workflow accuracy.
- Collaborate with Pre-Litigation Paralegals and medical records providers by using independent discretion on the best way to obtain necessary documents.
- Managing medical liens.
- Working experience with software such as ChartSwap, Needles, and other legal and medical records software.
- Calendar deadlines and assist attorneys with routine clerical duties and other miscellaneous legal duties as assigned.
- High school diploma required; Some college experience is a plus;
- Prior law firm experience preferred;
- Prior working experience managing medical records in a legal department;
- Proficient in use of computers, internet, social media, and relevant software applications, including Microsoft Office;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Must have experience in a busy professional setting;
- Must be well organized and adept in planning and multi-tasking
- Attention to detail and highly organized (i.e., able to prioritize and complete work by deadlines)
- Must be able to take initiative on items.
