Job Duties & Responsibilities: 
  • Participation in estimating functions to provide high-quality estimates to senior and management level estimators
  • Complete assignments in a timely manner
  • Perform quantity surveying on assigned disciplines – specific to self-performed scope of work
  • Produce information which is reconcilable to source data and be prepared to defend
  • Self-check of his/her work and that of subordinates, if applicable, to ensure accuracy
  • Participate, or lead, quantity reconciliation discussions with JV Partners
  • Coordinate information exchange between the Estimating and Procurement
  • Provide Technical Proposal support
  • Assist in maintaining established specialty estimating systems, procedures, and manuals
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Some of the personal development expectations include, but are not limited to:
  • Continue to improve on personal development started under lower labor grades
  • Develop an understanding of indirect and discipline specific estimating techniques
  • Demonstrate basic understanding of supervisory techniques
  • Accept job-site assignment if opportunity presents itself
Experience Requirements: 
  • 5+ years estimating experience with a major heavy civil, highway, or bridge contractor
  • Civil Engineering Degree (or equivalent) preferred
  • Knowledge of highway and bridge design concepts
  • Experience with HCSS HeavyBid or similar computerized estimating systems geared toward highway and heavy construction estimating
  • Knowledgeable in use of take-off systems such as Agtek and Terramodel
  • Knowledgeable of Critical Path Method scheduling procedures
