Job Description: 
This position is a mid-level position to plan and manage work for sub-contracted transit rail design. It requires sound technical/business judgment in the evaluation, organization, and execution of project management activities. This role has the overall objective of managing and coordinating project activities that are in compliance with the contract and ensure the safety, quality, value, timeliness, and profitability of the completed project. It includes the following: 

• Coordinate the preparation and delivery of project deliverables, design documents, and bid packages within the project team. 
• Manage sub-consultants on a day-to-day basis 
• Coordinate and/or manage the efforts of technical disciplines 
• Provide technical oversight of project rail design
• Support creation and coordination of overall project plans and schedules, and monitoring activities, progress, and milestones against the plans
• Act as a leader in applying cost competitive execution techniques and develop the most cost-effective total project solution for the discipline engineering work 
• Assign work to teams, monitor and manage the work 
• Identify deviations in job scope, estimate magnitude of changes, and initiate trends or change orders 
• Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines 
• Organize and prioritize a variety tasks in an effective and timely manner, set priorities, and meet deadlines 
• Plan and organize own work assignments, as well as carry out tasks from management staff 

Basic Job requirements 
• Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and three (3) years of work-related experience in the field of transit rail design. 

Other Job requirements 
• Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors 
• Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal statutes and guidelines 
• Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner 

Preferred Qualifications 
• experience working with University of Maryland, MARC, WMATA, Amtrak, Montgomery County and/or Prince
George’s County
• previous lump sum design-build experience
• Microstation
