Job Summary:

While working under limited supervision and reporting to the Controller, the Accounting Manager is a key position contributing to the overall success of the organization.
Responsibilities include supervising accounts payable and receivable, monthly closing, general ledger, preparing for annual financial audit, ensuring adherence to internal controls processes and other accounting functions. With this wide range of duties, the Accounting Manager plays a pivotal role in the maintaining a strong accounting and finance department, the IT department regarding accounting software applications, the Project Controls team regarding monthly reconciliations and reporting, and the Procurement department in the maintenance and reporting of commitments.

Job Duties:
  • Develop and maintain timely and accurate financial statements and reports in accordance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company requirements
  • Ensure compliance with procedures for internal controls.
  • Document and maintain complete and accurate supporting information for all financial transactions and ensure that financial information is secure.
  • Ensure timely, accurate and complete recording of transactions to facilitate closing of accounting books (monthly, quarterly, and annually).
  • Communicate issues and risks in a timely manner to Controller and CFO.
  • Manage the flow and integration of procurement and contracts management system with the accounting system.
  • Review contracts register on a regular basis and follows up with Procurement dept. as necessary.
  • Inform IT department of any accounting software issues and works closely with them to resolve problems and implement systems, if necessary.
  • Interface with Project Controls group to ensure proper WBS coding and reconciliation between general ledger and Project Management reporting.
  • Supervise Accounts Payable Specialist. This responsibility includes selection, training, evaluation, monitoring and coordination of work activities, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
  • As required, works with Controller and external auditors to resolve any issues or questions arising from the audit.
  • Travel approximately twice a year.
Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or similar discipline
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Accounting Manager role
  • Knowledgeable of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Experience with multi-currency accounting (HIGHLY DESIRED)
  • Experience in managing audit and reporting requirements
  • Ability to quickly grasp the financial/accounting operations and the related flow of financial info
  • Proficient in the use of computer programs such as ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics SL) and MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point)
  • Detail oriented
Desirable Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
  • An advanced degree such as an MBA
  • Public accounting experience
  • Experience with multi-currency accounting
